Purchased most recently in 2012 by mother/daughter entrepeneural team Phyllis Henson and Robin Collinson, The Clermont Venue has previously been known as The Historic Clermont Hotel! Built in 1905 this iconic structure has a rich and diverse history!
Previous Uses
Built to be used as a hotel, in it's glory it was full of bustling travelers riding the rails and seeking cooler climates from the coastal regions during the summer months. The train stopped right in front of the "hotel" and after stopping went further north to Helen, GA. The Clermont Hotel also was home to a grand department store and the local post office! Clermont, derived from the words "clear mountain" and at that time, was an industrious town with three banks, a movie house and many shops and businesses!
The Railroad Leaves
After the railroad departed the industry of the town slowly began to fade away. Today Clermont is mostly a residential community with a few restaurants, a barber shop, antique stores and a few other businesses scattered around.
Recent Changes
Fortunately the grand old lady exsisting most recently as The Clermont Venue is still standing. She has seen many changes through the years. At one time she was an antique store, a nursing home, a private residence, and before the last acquisition was being used again as a hotel. Purchased most recently in 2012 The Clermont Venue has undergone extensive preservation. Currently this beautiful building is being used in a number of capacities. Downstairs is home to a number of theatrical endeavors from kids drama/dance camps and productions to, family friendly mystery dinner shows and themed dinner productions such as our "Roaring 20's: Golden Age of Jazz Dinner Show" coming in August 2015! We also have had the privelege to host many an event, from weddings and birthdays to baby showers and family reunions!
